Highlight Concert

The European Highlight Concert brings selected Yamaha Music School students together for a special concert project in Valencia.

Applications are open to Yamaha Music School students. The application must be submitted by a Yamaha teacher, school staff member, or school representative.

After the interim application, every applicant receives personally written feedback. The final application is for selecting the final concert participants.

Regulations for application to the Yamaha European Highlight Concert 2027.

Objective

The objective is to sustain a beneficial opportunity for Yamaha Music School students to develop their musical skills on a performance concert platform.

Yamaha European Highlight Concert 2027

YEHC 2027, Yamaha European Highlight Concert 2027, showcases Yamaha students' high-level performances as a top event of Yamaha Music School concert activity.

The event supports sharing performances with participants and audiences and promotes the educational results of the Yamaha Music School system to the public.

The concert is scheduled for 22 May 2027 at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, Paseo Alameda, 30, Valencia 46023, Spain.

Up to 14 outstanding performances may be selected from the performance categories Original Works and Music Literature Works.

Original Works include JOC compositions by YMES students and band-oriented compositions by Yamaha instrumental course students.

Music Literature Works must be copyright-free works.

YEHC 2027 Selection

The selection process is intended to motivate students, parents, teachers, and operators to continue learning music by focusing on performance and stylistic results with use of interim application jury feedback.

For the YEHC 2027 Interim Application, the corresponding MP4 recording and score must be provided by European applicants to Yamaha Music Europe Headquarters by 19 June 2026.

For the YEHC 2027 Final Application, the corresponding MP4 recording and score must be provided by European applicants to Yamaha Music Europe Headquarters by 11 December 2026.

Eligibility

Existing Yamaha students are eligible for Music Literature Works as solo, duet, trio, and similar performances.

Existing Yamaha students are eligible for Original Works including band-oriented compositions, JOC compositions, and other solo, duet, trio, and similar performances.

The maximum band or ensemble size is six members in total on stage.

For JOC compositions, participants must be students of the Yamaha Music Education System courses including Pianoforte (PF), and must be fifteen (15) years old or younger as of 11 December 2026.

A JOC performance must be the student's own composition and must be performed by the composer. Lyrics can be written by another person in the case of a song.

JOC performance categories include solo performance on piano or any other instrument, and ensemble performances such as four-handed piano, ensemble with acoustic instruments, or ensemble with keyboards.

Song accompaniment performed by the composer may use a freely chosen instrument.

Performance Video

A performance video in MP4 format is required.

The camera angle must remain stationary and must clearly show the performers' whole body.

Yamaha Music Europe will use the interim application video for jury advice only and will then delete the video and related written data.

Yamaha Music Europe will use the final application video for selection only and will delete the video and written data after the Yamaha European Highlight Concert 2027.

Please use Yamaha-branded instruments unless there are special reasons. Performers or co-performers may use instruments not produced by Yamaha, such as traditional instruments from each country.

Digital application access will be provided four weeks before the interim and final application deadlines.

Piece to be Performed

Original Works include JOC works and band-oriented works, meaning the student's own composition.

Music Literature Works may be freely selected from baroque, classical, romantic, impressionistic, and similar literature.

A masterpiece is expected to be chosen by piano category students.

Copyright-free works are accepted only.

Score PDF

For Original Works, the score may be handwritten or printed. Please decide based on the educational merit for the student.

For Music Literature Works, a photocopy or PDF of the original score is required.

Data Supply and Submission

The subsidiary or Master Franchisee of each country is responsible for the data supply process.

All required files, including the performance video, application form, and score, are expected to be submitted through the YEHC 2027 digital platform.

The digital platform is expected to be active four weeks before the interim and final application deadlines.

Evaluation Criteria

The jury evaluates solid performance skills, expressive ability, varied and free expression, attractive content that captures the hearts of the audience, and the sharing of emotion with the audience through the performance.

Important Notes

Application forms will not be returned.

Personal data from the interim application will be destroyed after the interim application session. Personal data from the final application will be destroyed after completion of the Yamaha European Highlight Concert 2027.

Compositions within the category Original Works selected for the YEHC will be assigned to Yamaha Music Europe GmbH.

Schedule

Closing date for Interim Application: 19 June 2026.

Closing date for Final Application: 11 December 2026.

Selection announcement: middle of January 2027.

Student clinics and workshops are planned in the months before the concert.

Yamaha European Highlight Concert: 22 May 2027.

GDPR

By applying through the interim or final application digital registration, the undersigned gives consent to the recordings taken on the recording date at the recording location and acknowledges that these recordings shall be used by the jury for internal purposes only.

The recordings will be deleted as described in these regulations.

Video and audio recordings are stored in private object storage. Score files are encrypted before storage and can be uploaded as PDF.
